Created a poll about changing the POW algo of BCH to a GPU based one. If you believe that it shouldn't be done, can you please explain why you believe that?

It was done on BTG and ended with a 51% attack. In fact, coins labeled as ASIC resistent end in 51% attacks. With ASICS, we have lots of miners willing to secure BCH.

"With ASICS, we have lots of miners willing to secure BCH."

This is also wrong. BCH runs a huge risk currently. It has only a tiny little fraction of the total sha256 hashrate.

You can't compare the 2.

BTG was an irrelevant scammy shitcoin.

XMR would be a better comparison.

I don't subscribe to that narrative. GPU mining is benefficial in my view.

I think that ASIC resistance is an utopia. If someone has an economical incentive to develop a specialized CPU for a concrete PoW algorithm, it's gonna happen.
replied 2597d
It's not utopia. Anyways, if BCH won't do it, we have XMR to test that path.

Xmr just try to fork whenever there is a public ASIC. You can't do that with bitcoin
replied 2597d
Actually, it could be done.

(Xmr has ASIC)
But BTG was attacked because it has low hashrate/market cap, not because it's a "scammy shitcoin"
replied 2597d
being a scammy shitcoin equals to a weak network.

BCH should have changed to GPU mining at the second hard fork upgrade.
