XMR would be a better comparison.
I don't subscribe to that narrative. GPU mining is benefficial in my view.
I think that ASIC resistance is an utopia. If someone has an economical incentive to develop a specialized CPU for a concrete PoW algorithm, it's gonna happen.
It's not utopia. Anyways, if BCH won't do it, we have XMR to test that path.
Xmr just try to fork whenever there is a public ASIC. You can't do that with bitcoin

But BTG was attacked because it has low hashrate/market cap, not because it's a "scammy shitcoin"
being a scammy shitcoin equals to a weak network.
BCH should have changed to GPU mining at the second hard fork upgrade.
