The LN was meant to give the banks a few years to prepare and build their own instant payment apps so they wont suddenly turn outdated by a new competitive technology that came out of nowhere they couldn't predict and
they can't keep up with. In a digital world a p2p money would have made them look suddenly extremely outdated especially in the eyes of gen Z who grew in a digital world.
