ok thanks that cleared it up a bit. didn't see the parallels between the two evolutionary processes, but I like it.

The fight/reunion takes place in a natural history museum with the evolutionary tree of live as the backdrop,

Can perhaps also bee seen as an allegory to the start of a new kind of sexual selection or that the old paradigm of evolution has passed to something new. Might also be for looks.
