Yeah it can't grow without new users & not having any statement on why or how long it will be closed is extremely lame.
,,,,really solve the issue. I can see how it's annoying, but if registrations were opened right now Yours would take a lot of modding hours to deal with all the spam and shit.
Likely the only solution is to be self moderating. Allow paid downvotes maybe. Can tweak the weight of up and down votes to get a good balance.
