Surprising bmg pool has only 8MB limit.

So what's the point of block size limit if everyone set their own, even smaller limits anyway? :p
It is there to prevent a *hypothetical* attack vector. A small safety precaution.
yes, several pools have mined 8 MB blocks (viaBTC, BMG etc), not just today. but they aren't going beyond it, they have a soft cap.
the mempool grew to 10 MB a while ago but in the end an 8 MB block was mined.

it is not a coincidence largest blocks so far get closed at ~7,998.642 kbs. the mempool has exceeded that.
