I'm switching to the first pool that mines a block > 8MB
replied 2124d
It is nice that you support, but several pools already have. Why not switch to the pool that had the highest blocksize during the test, and to break ties the first to make that big?
replied 2124d
where have you seen blocks strictly greater than 8 MB?

If they come you can see here https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/blocks
replied 2124d
yes, but they have not come. that was my point.

We've gotten very very close: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/block/545921

Surprising bmg pool has only 8MB limit.
replied 2124d
and coingeek a 2 MB one. :O
replied 2124d
So what's the point of block size limit if everyone set their own, even smaller limits anyway? :p

It is there to prevent a *hypothetical* attack vector. A small safety precaution.
replied 2124d
yes, several pools have mined 8 MB blocks (viaBTC, BMG etc), not just today. but they aren't going beyond it, they have a soft cap.
replied 2124d
the mempool grew to 10 MB a while ago but in the end an 8 MB block was mined.
replied 2124d
Source?
replied 2124d
it is not a coincidence largest blocks so far get closed at ~7,998.642 kbs. the mempool has exceeded that.
