WHY don't scorpions eat every day?

Scorpions are nocturnal hunters, so they hide during the day and feel most active at night. They play an integral role in their ecosystem, maintaining a low population of small vertebrates and invertebrates. They feed mainly on insects, especially crickets and cockroaches, spiders, mice and lizards.

Scorpions generally appear to hunt at least once every two or three weeks. Some species can go without food for up to 12 months in more arid habitats.

As it turns out, these tiny spiders carry fat layers on their exoskeleton that make them resistant to water loss. They can also slow down their metabolism if food is scarce.
