Should I add "Accepts 0-conf" as a field for merchants on GreenPages.cash? Or would that just be too much clutter, because not enough people care about that just yet?
replied 2248d
We need a marketing buzzword. 0-conf has no meaning to someone who doesn't know the protocol. "Instant" something?

Maybe InstaPay, QuickPay, Quick Transaction, Instant Transaction, FastBill, Cash Transaction(as fast as paying someone with fiat cash)

Or Direct Transaction
replied 2248d
Instant would be the best buzzword. Transactions with X number of confirmations would be "guaranteed / trusted / locked transactions", but it insinuate instant tx are not..

Here are some ideas: Zero Wait, Flash Transactions, Instant Transactions, Snap-Instant, Zero Flash Payments. *shrug* Hope this will help get the brain juices flowing for others.
replied 2248d
I like Flash. "BCH Flash accepted here." BCH Flash could be marketed as pay-and-go. A visual guide could demonstrate no tokens, no buying into LN, no separate wallets. "It just works"
replied 2248d
Idk, flash sounds too buzzy, doesn't feel real. Also, we only need to market "Bitcoin" itself as pay-and-go, not some obscure buzzword. Keep it as dumb as possible

I get what you're saying but I also see what they're saying. It should come in partnership with advertising Bitcoin Cash, like:

BITCOIN CASH
powered by FasTransaction
ACCEPTED HERE
replied 2248d
Another idea; BCH Instant Transactions
replied 2248d
Why not use the word "Confirmed".

Because that clashes with the technical jargon.

What is your best guess currently?
replied 2248d
all BCH txs are instant. most are accepted 0-conf, this takes < 2 secs. certain sensitive ones (e.g. depositing to an exchange) require extra security for the recipient ...
replied 2248d
but (a) the protocol allows for an insurance scheme to protect the recipient when he accepts a tx without confirmation, so he need not worry ...
replied 2248d
(b) there are paid services that will analyze an incoming tx and let the recipient know (with insurance) if it is safe to accept. (e.g. http://www.gap600.com)
replied 2248d
IN SUM: ALL BCH TRANSACTIONS ARE INSTANT.
(* the riskier ones naturally require a few extra steps)
replied 2248d
Instant Approval. Transaction Approved. Connected...
replied 2248d
You should simply not list any merchant who does not accept zero conf as it is a bad user experience.
replied 2248d
Unfortunately, that would be more than most merchants at the moment. Also unfair to those business for whom it is simply unsafe to accept 0-conf due to item value.
replied 2248d
That would be great, but seems like it'd be hard to maintain. Do the businesses themselves usually specify whether they accept 0-conf? I rarely see it mentioned one way or the other.
replied 2248d
Yeah, you'd pretty much have to make a purchase to know whether or not they accepted it. None I've seen explicitly state it.

It makes sense if the shop sells virtual items. For physical items there's no need for 0-conf as the shipping is not instantaneous.
replied 2248d
Unless it's a brick and mortar shop.

replied 2248d
Right, I forgot that part. Maybe I'm not used to paying in brick and mortar shops :(
replied 2248d
(cont) Maybe make the analogy that a cup of coffee requires no confirmation, but a large bill or high priced item is checked. Then tie in the word "confirmation" with what 0-conf is.
