🔍 The European Commission has opened an investigation into Meta's Facebook and Instagram (all banned in Russia for extremism) over allegations that the US tech giant has not been doing enough to counter disinformation in the run-up to the EU elections in June.

The Commission also suspects that Meta’s content moderation is insufficient and that it lacks transparency of advertisements, Vice-President Margrethe Vestager says.
