If you are from BitTorrent world join our small #WebTorrent topic where we discuss the possible integration of WT for media handling https://memo.cash/topic/webTorrent

Magnet links are much better way to use the protocol than .torrent files

Magnets are overburdened by a uri convention. I believe we can propose a better way to store infohash and other metadata in op_return, that’s native to our environment.

Good idea. As an old programmer I appreciate conserving resources like storage, which has become something of a lost art.

I look forward to all the proposals, for now just memoing magnet links seems convinient enough

Things to encode: infohash, network specification (clearnet/i2p), keywords, name and other metadata.

Also: content type such as plain text / rich text / audio / video / image / animated gif document etc

I believe we need a separate well defined protocol for publishing torrents on blockchain. It should resemble magnets, but without uri overburden.

Are you a developer? If you have time, post your project on lighthouse or coinfundr to get some funds to set it up. I will contribute, a decentralized Pirate Bay is a great idea.

Lighthouse is great! I remember it since 2015, and it is pretty cool the project is alive again. I don’t need anything more than utf8 encoder at this moment though!
