Sorry to pop the bubble for you, it's plagued by inequality but compared to the rest of the world on average the USA is doing pretty damn good...
Wealth of few very extremely rich people is what makes it look like on surface that US is good. if you took that away you would see true reality. Also easier for outsider to see this.
US is good depending how much money you have and what part of it you happen to be born in (what type of family) etc. Overall its very bad, you just don't see it.
A country could have shit GDP but have high quality of life. "Policy wonks judge programs by productivity, they want Americans to die rich, economists want Americans to die happy".
