They best they can do is point to deaths resulting from activities that only wealthy people have the privilege of engaging in, like driving, or unrelated things the state does, like war.

It is hard to believe that either illustration was made in good faith, and not being an ironic self deprecating exaggeration, but the simplest explanation is most likely the correct.
There are individuals on both sides on many sides, that fit into the caricatures. It is just that they are the exceptions and not the general sentiment of liberal/conservative/other.
