Hey why is ABC hashrate still so high despite being 140% more profitable to mine BTC? SV's rate is low to match the price...why not ABC? Are they....scared?
replied 2221d
Miners value things in multiple timescales and they are clearly signalling their valuation by not going back to BTC despite being 500,000 exahashes ahead.
replied 2221d
If this was the case then where were they before the fork? ABC coin is worth half as much as BCH was pre-fork. This makes no sense financially and not a coincidence to spike after sv
replied 2222d
Yes they are scared. The SV hash is not visible, shadow mining empty blocks to re-org ABC so they need to have a very high (above equilibrium) hash rate to prevent a deep reorg.
replied 2221d
I do not think they are doing a secret re-org, i think simply bleeding ABC's $$. bitcoin.com is wasting an absurd amount of money right now. only logical explanation for why SV felltoo
replied 2221d
SV is bleeding more money than BCH.
replied 2221d
No way man. Look at the hashrates, the profitability for BTC is way higher right now, esp yesterday when SV's dropped to 1.1 Exa. ABC is using pools to fund this - they pay cust in BTC
replied 2221d
If you have some numbers, i'd like to see them. key difference is ABC's hash is not their own where as BMG and Coingeek are privately owned, not pools
replied 2221d
The last numbers I saw were BCH 365,000 SV 397,000. But it's been a few days.
replied 2221d
Seems mighty unlikely since SV will have to reorg 685 (557452-556767) blocks since ABC's checkpoint checkpoint

Everyone seems to think they have to reorg the whole chain. Why do people think that? Reorg like 10 blocks (repeatedly?), and already you have done much damage. Miners miss rewards etc
replied 2221d
A short re-org attack, if worked on by enough hash to matter, would've already materialized.

So you know their battle plan then? What if they use a war of attrition approach atm until unprofitable mining is reduced more and then attack? Or maybe they still gather their forces?

OK. Thank you for the information. I'll add you to my list of people who have nothing of value to add to any discussion cause they cannot think.

Shadow mining attack... because he can't really know how close on his heels Craig is... maybe Craig's just mining BTC at huge profit whilst Roger burns $. Will attack later short reorg
replied 2221d
2/3 so basically Craig and Calvin lose $ mining at a loss. But Roger loses money mining at a loss AND has to pay a really high premium to do it... and cannot titrate it to match the
replied 2221d
A couple of days ago BCH had 365,000 in mining loss. SV had 397,000 in mining loss. I haven't seen a new update, but don't presume BCH is losing more money than SV
replied 2221d
Hard to say really. With BTC much much more profitable to mine. Roger is spending a fortune to rent hash (must pay to make them whole again...) Whereas Craig and Calvin own theirs
