“Many experimental results never see the light of publication day... it comes down to the data being “negative”, i.e. the expected and/or wanted effect was not observed.”

see: Subsequent experiments https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelson%E2%80%93Morley_experiment Just the fact that Michelson was still digging for truth 48 years later should give pause.

umm..? all have null results w/ the fringe shift detected <= the resolution of the experimental set up & expected (hypothesized) shift >> than measured.

From page 354 "It was zero in so far as the motion of the earth in its orbit is concerned. The remaining effect, however, was large enough to be measured"

Please don’t tell me you are flat earth people.

If I start saying something stupid like "the earth is flat" I implore you to fight me with logic, observation, grace and wit.

Lol it’s always witty with me and occasional grace 😉

Correction: the detailed results ***DO NOT*** agree with the conclusion they draw from it.

Absolutely not. Flat earthers like to cite the Michelson Morley experement but the detailed results agree with their conclusion. They also don't agree with Einstein.

Oh thank goodness, I was scared I might have to block you 😂

It's also interesting and useful to try to deconstruct their worldview(which should help you deconstruct your own too).

You shouldn't block flat earthers for the simple fact that it's a fun thought experiment finding every-day observable proofs that the earth is round. Good logic exercise.

I have never blocked anyone. I enjoy reading all the different opinions. It keeps me enlightened

IMO it's stupid to block someone with the only reason that you don't agree with that person.

It was a joke. Check out the poll I created

no, not a flat earth person

Seems like he never did completely let it go. They were always getting tiny fringes and different results in different locations. http://adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1928ApJ....68..341M

ok… the fact that someone continues researching a negative result is good science but is not proof the hypothesis is true.
