So basically we need some massive grassroots adoption and then the banks will be the bagholders who helped bootstrap the mining industry with their pump of BTC. Poetic justice.

Ironically, in trying to kill Bitcoin they gave billions to the mining industry. So when we flip BCH/BTC the PoW will be more impervious than ever.
