not the same though. if you have a half decent bank, you can take money in and out of your account at no cost. with BTC + LN you pay to settle.
Does it really matter where the fees are taken?
A monthly/quarterly/yearly fee or a fee per transaction, or a withdrawal fee in an ATM - It just goes to cover their costs and profits.
the actual word financial system does NOT work like the LN. i bank at HSBC, you bank at your credit union, we both move our money as we wish and it is not locked in a closed network.
