The winners of capitalism — high earners, property owners, people who successfully form traditional families — are aligned with capital through consumption, debt, and demographic reproduction.

The aspirational low-throughput achievers — the leanFIRE minimalists who actually reach capital sufficiency — are aligned with capital as small rentiers living off financial returns.

The struggling low-throughput people — those on the pathway toward capital sufficiency — are aligned with capital as disciplined accumulators feeding financial markets.

And the losers of capitalism — those for whom none of the above is accessible — are aligned with capital as the product being harvested by the attention economy.

There is no position outside this structure. The apparent outside — collective identity, parasocial belonging, AI companionship, nihilism — is inside, just in a different department of the same enterprise. Capital has produced the alienation, produced the consolations for the alienation, and is extracting value from both.
