The problem is that most moderate liberals make excuses for those groups instead of condemning them. The moderate right(this includes Trump) constantly condemns the "alt-right".

Well he is against free trade, which is an open market. He is forcing electric companies to keep unprofitable coal plans open. He is attacking companies on social media. Do you watch?

On trade, I think it is possible he is bluffing. I.e. he just gives the impression of being a protectionist in order to scare China into also lowering their tariffs.

Some use to think that way, but it is becoming obvious that he is serious with his bad ideas. US business leaders are scared it will undo the help from lowered taxes.

Coal is for national defense. It's NK's main export. He's not bombing them with bombs, he bombs them with low coal prices. It's easier than enforcing sanctions and we get electricity.

Once the price of coal goes down due to a flood of new supply the power plants are suddenly viable again AND North Korea's biggest cash cow dies. Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

That is even ignoring the vast environmental and health costs. All the people who die from air pollution.

As for his "attacking" companies, he's only doing exactly what he said he'd do on the campaign trail. He said he'd use the bully pulpit of the presidency to keep jobs in the US.

Definitions. Free trade: Traders are free to negotiate a price. When a "trader" is an entire country, other countries may need a representative to negotiate on their behalf.

The US does not do it at all. The US has always been very protectionist, at least with agriculture they are. I think Japan is the only country that protects their agriculture more.
