How does that work? I'm intrigued by the idea, but having a real world event somehow documented on the block chain is unintuitive.

I could see a faucet but I don't really see why you'd do a mining pool.

Maybe to give portion of mining pool profits towards further development of Memo and the Memo Protocol. Mining profits could also be used to fund a Memo Faucet for new user onboarding.
