❗️Iran will respond to Israel’s strike on its consulate in Syria's Damascus but will do it in an “appropriate” way to avoid an escalation, Axios reports, citing a person in the know.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian told German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who initiated the contact, that Tehran will respond to the killing of its senior military commanders in the strike but will do it in a limited way, the report says.

Amirabdollahian said Israel violated international law, and Tehran has the right to respond to it and punish the aggressor, the report adds.
