2100d · Donald Trump Rapes and Murders Children
Other things that would have prevented it: parents not sending their children unaccompanied on a thousand mile march.
replied 2100d
That is not very common. The children are more often taken from their parents by the American officials.
replied 2100d
or if their parents didnt march a thousand miles with them into a country illegally (ie where they knew they were breaking the law & knew families were being separated).
replied 2100d
Considering what many were running from.

They are not actually breaking the law. Claiming legal refugee status is legal.

The same reasoning applies to people within western countries too. Everyone is so quick to make a plea to the government instead of fixing their own problems.
replied 2099d
That’s true, but why can’t these issues be dealt with locally? Caravans of people marching through Mexico & setting up camp in tijuana looks more like people shopping than just
replied 2099d
Marching through Mexico on the way to a safer place.

I personally don't think nations should be allowed to restrict the free flow of people, but understand we cant have that yet.
replied 2099d
They walked through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, passed Belize, ignored Panama, skipped Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
replied 2099d
I realize none of these countries are as safe as the US but surely some are safe enough. I agree the flow of people should be left to land owners & ideally,
replied 2099d
Garden to say if any of those are safe enough considering the problems in the regions. Especially Mexico. Skipping those nations seem legitimate to me.
replied 2097d
Parts of US are more dangerous than those countries. Why not move evry1 into Bel Air? Hard to believe there is literally nowhere in those countries that is safer than where they were
replied 2099d
in such a situation where all land is privately owned, individuals could decide who they want on their land & under what conditions.
replied 2099d
However, baring this situation, use of public resources (land, security, economy, institutions, culture) should limited as much as possible to avoid the tragedy of the commons.
replied 2099d
trying to find a safe place to live. Its like anything goes wrong in the world & it’s immediately the west’s problem. The west should not be world police. the countries

receiving all this help (eg money, food, security) are not stronger because of it. https://www.heritage.org/global-politics/commentary/foreign-aid-breaking-the-cycle-dependency
replied 2099d
Foreign aide is not as good. Taking in refugees is better. Foreign aide is often more about political influence more than help. Preventing them from turning to an enemy for help.
replied 2099d
there is some point (idk exactly) where refugees change the culture of the country that adopts them, especially if they are not integrating well.
replied 2099d
It might sound bad, but technically immigrantion brings the best people, and leaves behind the rest. Immigrants tend to be the middle class and better educated from those nations.
replied 2097d
Eg ppl in states like IL and CA voting for high taxes & social programs, running their states budgets into the ground then moving to places like Austin & Denver & repeating the cycle.
replied 2097d
If these people are so qualified why are there so many issues in their countries, how does the west know they won’t bring the problems with them,
replied 2097d
Often the systems in their nations are broken, or socialist, etc. Those who can get out do so. When given freedom most people can thrive, and population is an asset.
replied 2097d
& why cant they fix the issues in their home?
