The attackers misunderstand the game theory. They think that "51% attacks" only require 51% of the hashrate. However, that's only true in the pre-BCH era. "51% attacks" were named in 2009 or 2010, IIRC long before BCH
existed. When you have a minority of hashrate on a blockchain like BCH does, the game theory is totally different from what people with an intermediate-level understanding of
Bitcoin mechanics would expect.
They think they probably have enough hashrate to win. They're just wrong about that.
