The general rule in church circles is to treat all older women the same as you'd treat your mother and peers like sisters. My kid would know it's wrong and say something, even in 1980.
Lets cut the crap with church rules. If people followed anything the church does, there would be no Racism because Jesus loves all.
As for Willow Creek - Bill Hybels(jogging buddy of Bill Clinton) was a ticking time bomb for years and attendees had a reputation for ignoring red flags.
I've never EVER encountered racism in my 34 years going to church. Even at churches that were pathological in other ways(nepotism, power games and greed are much bigger problems).
Racists may occasionally go to church, but they won't survive there very long. Churches that try to make a case for a racist worldview are very very few. Those ppl aren't Christians.
Another large misconception is: person who goes to church = Christian. That's just not true. It's impossible to be a Christian and a racist at the same time, they're mutually exclusive
hahaha, I feel like I'm getting better at this lol! Publishing my charts has helped cuz I have to come up with a concrete plan. I think it's much easier to call tops than bottoms.
