Any solutions to prevent what's happening to Gab happening to Memo?
replied 2761d
you can download and run memo => https://github.com/memocash/memo

It's far from user friendly. If running your own Memo is to be a solution, everyone needs to be capable of doing it.

(2/2)if a user with a memo client app could connect to the BC would be ideal. But we must not forget the computing power needed in the bg, if 100k+ memo users a PC will not be enough.

Memo is bloom filter compatible, so it should be possible to build a lite client with a decent amount of functionality.

I'm pretty sure a memo client using bitdb can be made
replied 2761d
yes it can be made but even with bitdb it will need a lot of processing power e.g. assign likes to msg, replys to msg, ranking etc.
the question is how far these client apps can scale.
replied 2761d
Yes, you will likely need separate Memo nodes to handle that processing on behalf of the end user.
replied 2761d
(1/2)that's right. but it is a huge advantage if a few people run such nodes, users can connect to them in case of emergency. But I know what you mean, that's not mature yet.

Essentially a memo desktop+mobile web application as well as node software for people who want to host Memo nodes. User->Application->Memo Node->BCH node->Blockchain

Memo is designed to work with lite wallets. It doesn't exist yet but it shouldn't be difficult to create a desktop version of Memo that isn't too heavy.

A bounty fund should be created for this goal, I would contribute to it.

In theory we could see anyone running Memo nodes from Bitcoin.com to other mining pools looking to support the decentralized social network.

Memo *is* the solution to what is happening.
