Another easy implementation for mass BCH adoption: PARKING METERS. Each parking meter has a QR sign with a unique address on it. Replace those costly credit card meters with BCH ones.

this idea was floated years ago. one could even pay the meter with their phone without having to leave the restaurant.

We already have such a system in Copenhagen. Regions in the and parkings lots have a four digit code. You pay with an app on your phone. Of course no support for crypto, though.

apps that save 'time'

will be valued,
used
appreciated.

Only a matter of *when*
they arrive.

new tech rolling out on BCH is unique.Bch underestimated in my opinion, crypto masses dont notice the infrastructure being built out in the open by BCH.until they are using it.

much like many of the people drawn to it,
like a magnet

underestimated
makes me say

hehehehe.

What happens if some angry dude peels off the QR code? No more parking? Or would it also accept fiat for redundancy?

You can have a digital QR code on the meter - harder to rip off. But you can never protect completely against vandalism. Someone could also destroy the cash meter...

Agree. Could also stick it behind plastic. Need to make sure it's not too easy to destroy while being scannable. I like the idea overall, though!

Why meter? City/streets to zones. Zone has a hourly rate and simple code on the street signs, Start - your licence plate + zone code. Park anywhere in the zone. Currently done with SMS
replied 2285d
Yeah either way. It’s just a concept. I think you could test different specifics in different locations. There’s absolutely more than one way this could work.
replied 2285d
It's a awesome idea and perfect for BCH but you really don't need physical meters any more. Expensive. Very simple map + park pay app, posters/signs, admin soft /server to run, report
replied 2285d
Agree simple is better.

I agree - meters are obsolete anyway

I visualize a printed metal sign that is tamper proof. That’s what’s on parking meters already. Redundancy would be regular credit card meters nearby.

Need councils and government to back that first. Could target private car parks for that to kick things along.

Yeah perfect weekend Arduino hacking project?
