sorry, don't misunderstand me. The BCH/BTC split IS about throughout (speed), but Bitcoin itself isn't fundamentally about speed.
Isn't it, though? What is "digital cash" if not usable cash? If people en mass can't use it, due principally to speed, such as is the issue with BTC... Then it's not digital cash.
Bitcoin IS fast, it has to be to be a good money system, but a permissionless PoW based monolithic blockchain isn't necessary for speed, it's necessary for freedom.
Bitcoin Core is fast? Could you run Memo on Core? The high fees due to using SegWit instead of raising the TX limit from 1mb to at least 8, is why we're using Memo on BCH.
