Extremists are always extremely wrong. Being extreme on the other end doesn't make you any better.

ehh, US founding fathers were considered extreme. wouldn't consider them wrong though. extremes are where change starts

Where they extremists, or just revolutionary? It could be argued that having a ruler that is months away is also extreme.

I do think you make a good point though. No rule is universal
replied 2913d
idk. line between extremist & revolutionary is blurry. extremist seems to have a more negative connotation. true about being ruled by someone months away.

makes you wonder what galactic civilizations will be like. (as they'll either be small independent systems or ruled by someone years away.)
replied 2912d
Without FTL travel I doubt there can be a galactic civilisation. Just a bunch of infependant solar civilisations. Even a K2 civilisation would be more like a bunch of separate nations.

yeah agree. even now people dont really care about grudges their parents had against other countries. why would people have such long distance allegiances?

Revolutionaries are extreme almost by definition.

Also, you realize that stating "no rule is universal" is declaring a universal rule right?
replied 2913d
I do, and it helps highlight the reality of the point.
