They aren't registered to receive it so you can still have a monthly BAT donation go to memo but it will be held until they actually sign up which is why Im asking for them to register
Also a good amount of Brave users have donations set to only verified publishers so they could be missing out there.
Perhaps we should alert @memo? Does doing that do it?

It will be coming in the next release. I'll be scanning bitdb for the signed in user and notifying when someone uses your name. Im just on a long contract right now so it's slow.
I'll be going away for a month shortly for work but will try to have it out before I leave.
