You can imagine a woo-woo lady who has an uncanny ability to predict the weather.
Now there might actually be a market for her service. She can build up an onchain track record of accurate predictions.
First use cases are:
• Weather prediction markets
• A market for certain datasets
Although it’s not explained yet exactly what role WSV will play.
Instead of falling under gambling regulations, this could become a paid forecasting service.
• Doesn’t appear to be an allocation for founders - they will receive whatever weather channels they themselves have funded.
• Appears to be no fixed supply - supply will increase as more channels are funded
• Looks likely to be built on RUN
There are 6,700 active channels rn.
Assume 715k sats to activate a channel = 47.905 BSV spent.
Works out around 5.7m WSV tokens to be distributed. Probably more as some channels might have been renewed and others were once active but no longer.
For people who funded channels early on, they will get a 20% bonus rate of 1.2 WSV per 1000 satoshis funded.
So funding one channel should yield ~858 WSV.
