Automation short-term can have adverse consequences to certain groups, but in the long run creates wealth and expands industry to include more jobs.
As technology innovates and wealth increases; as we get to the immemorial human goal of achieving more through less, everyone will be better off and we don't need UBI. AI doesn't change that.
If the UBI is forced by a government rather than the free market, it is immoral, unethical, bad economically, and socialistic.
If you mean universal basic income, I'm gonna have to say that's a socialist thing.

@minkaminka hard question to answer under these limits. In short, the smaller the better, and I believe it can be abolished altogether and replaced by a voluntary society and free market
