There is a flip side to this in open source also... For example, Kafka was created by LinkedIn, but senior developers left LinkedIn and founded Confluent, and now Confluent largely controls Kafka development. Open source allowed employees to become owners.
You'll probably lose money, though. Few users of twetch achieve net profits.
Since twetch is afraid to tell me the net profit of my tweaks (tweak is to twetch as tweet is to twitter), I have split my account between MoneyButton and RelayX. Spend comes from RelayX, income goes to MoneyButton.
