What we are planning is just encrypting and sending links onchain to 3rd party pastebins which contain the full encrypted message.
I think the memo private key is stored secured with your password, and only the hash of your password should be saved server-side (salted to boot).
Well they have to generate them first, nothing stopping them making a copy before salting and hashing them. You should reply in the topic btw 👍🏼
Ye but if those txs came from memo and it was hacked then the messages could be read because memo has everyone's private key much like WhatsApp
I don't like your idea about devising the public key from the blockchain though, that infers that messages will be sent to active keys that are centrally stored on memo servers.
I think if someone wanted to post a lengthy encrypted message they could do so of their own accord and then simply encrypt the pastebin (etc) link and send that in a memo message.
We should russle a python script together to get encryption decryption using compressed public and private keys btw. I'll take a look this weekend
