There could be no greater irony. We have become slaves to our dependency on comfort and convenience, by the very same instruments we sought to gain more independence from, and it is only by becoming self-reliant that we can again be free.
Also, if I may add, let us not forget the power of denial...
For the sheep, staying in denial or pretending otherwise is comforting, convenient and less demanding.
