did you download an update from within the software itself, or did you get the sofware from the website?
if you can get the transaction hex you can rebroadcast the transaction.
can you get the transaction ID or the transaction hex? can you see the transaction anymore?
I do not see the connection you are making to not updating and the money not being processed in a block.
I do not believe there to be a relationship between those two things.
