this article makes me mad x.x so biased and so short sighted... and suggesting PoS as if it were objectively better than PoW, calling it "legacy" and "easiest to implement"

for two things: delegation of responsibility (those who want other people to handle the security) and for loans.

"mandatory," good luck with that.. mandatory implies an authority.
Nothing can be mandatory in this sphere, but things can be obvious.

As the price of BCH increases it will unleash a real fee market where some pools will accept lower fees and some will not.

Because that clashes with the technical jargon.

Could it also function as a standalone memo client? We really need standalone clients truly be uncensorable.

Sorry, when I said Bitcoin I meant the coin described by Satoshi in the white paper, not BTC with segwit and LN.

I am very interested in the idea of an on-chain encrypted messenger but is there a solution to keeping your metadata about your conversations safe?

Bitcoin IS fast, it has to be to be a good money system, but a permissionless PoW based monolithic blockchain isn't necessary for speed, it's necessary for freedom.

sorry, don't misunderstand me. The BCH/BTC split IS about throughout (speed), but Bitcoin itself isn't fundamentally about speed.

While I do agree, we should keep in mind that "elegance" is a matter of opinion.

We will see, but I doubt it. Even in a worst case scenario, a chain will most likely survive.

Technology will either free us or enslave us, we're pioneering freedom through technology here. It's not about speed, though that will come.

BCH scales linearly, but that should be sufficient for the majority of humanity to use it. To answer your question, the first layer of BCH scales fine.

We want more utility. Transaction count is not an end, just a signal we are doing well.

The first thing you should do in a disagreement is define terms, otherwise you'll find you're simply speaking different but similar languages and no progress will be made.
