a huge increase (decrease) of the kind we have seen hundreds of times in crypto. point is BTC isn't being able to function smoothly given its own normal fluctuations.

Yep, but right now BTC up 13% for the month. BCH up 2%. People would still rather HODL BTC at this time, since spending isn't a full option yet.

Check out txstreet now. The slightest pump in price causes severe congestion on the BTC side. Fees are up 50% since yesterday.
