sat/byte is a common ratio most wallets use, but it can be any, like sat/kb, sat/MB, sat/10bytes. Anything.

The URL is stored on-chain - we were considering adding image hashes as well, but decided to keep it simpler for now. Yes, the ID is a cache-buster :)

Each node that stores the blockchain can decide when to prune old data, but there will be 'archival' nodes, that store all the data, all the time.

We've been talking about the need for private messaging on Memo. Separately - it's a tricky thing to put messages on a public blockchain and claim it's forever private.
