@names are not unique. It's not a great idea.
names is a point, although now when here 3,462 users it shouldn't be a big problem and considering absence of official mention functionality it can be helpful in my opinion.
Absolutely, it is an voluntary feature that people can use if they wish.

anyway mention notifier is on heroku server and live ✅ so you can add your email to receive notifications when you will be @mentioned.
