If a universal income is established post-automation, will it will lead to more tyranny and oppression since more people are dependent on the government to get by?
We definitely don't need that^ I don't think UBI will be the end of the world, but at the same time I don't think it's needed. We need a just monetary system.
Ideally we go back to commodity money and barter trade. But that won't cut it today obviously. Our next best choice is Bitcoin (BCH), with its fixed supply.
Deflationary currency we can use as a base for bartering is definitely best, and even better if it operates independently of actors who'd rather silence than empower.
Commodity money (gold silver etc) works because the upper bound of its supply reflects the finiteness of Earth's resources. Fiat's infinite supply is killing the planet
But yeah, if we *have* to use some form of ledger based money. One that is fixed supply or deflationary would be best. No need for UBI thereafter.
P2P application of crypto is similar to automation in the work force- there is capitalistic incentive to use the tech. That plus honey badger should mean it takes over.
I do not think we will ever be post-automation. Desires are unlimited. every new solution to a desire requires a lot of work (e.g. medical advancements).
We could have a lot of automation if we reduced our desires. ban any actions that dont produce or automate basic needs: simple food, water, shelter, & clothing.
Stop all efforts in medicine (vaccines, cancer, gene editing), technology (VR, blockchain, 3D printing, quantum computing), environment. Back to 1900’s desires.
Universal Basic Income vs. Universal Basic Resources? Ownership matters.
No difference really, if a resource is such that its value is in using it to trade with other things it becomes a currency.
Income is Resource, there is no difference, you can trade the currency from your income into the resource, only other option would be for the state to decide ->
-> decide what sort of resources you would get, or you selecting your preferences and the state acting as an intermediate, sending you what you would have bought.
Dogeman, what is universal basic resources? how does it differ from UBI?
