Currently reading and finding it interesting
one thing that strikes me is the mentioning of the value of number of connected nodes in twitter. Retweets in memo could be incentivized in interesting ways
likes on the retweet could split the profit between the original creator and the retweeter - encouraging spreading good messages
Is this topic dead or what?
Watching the Jimmy Win interview now. Thoughts later. Sound quality breaking down pretty soon - BCH Booooooys
BCH Boys, you really need to monitor and be able to signal to your interviewee when the sound quality goes down the tubes.
Or hire a professional lip reader to transcribe this.
First major point: Jimmy admits possibility of a chain split and states that he believes the majority will support the BitcoinSV rules.
I like the BCH Boys - listen to their podcast regularly
Jimmy emphasizes need for protocol stability, but interviewers softball and he doesn't address how majority hashrate will come about so close to fork w/o an SV final release yet.
This is a big elephant in the room. A release date of 15 October has been announced previously by SV developers. Is it still on track?
But I feel they are somewhat biased in the ABC/Bitmain vs nChain/CSW battle - they are not critical to nChain/CSW - while they have conspiracy theories against ABC/Bitmain
And the code was supposed to be audited. It's hard to believe this can happen before Nov 15 in a way that others can trust to build on the software in time for that fork date.
Jimmy does make a good argument for the need to rapidly provide scale (e.g. to 128MB). But it builds on unreleased models and their results. Please release those ASAP!
My understanding is that Jimmy and nChain envision that there will be a hash competition in November to decide which ruleset the majority of hashpower will follow.
At this stage that boils down basically to a choice between SV and ABC. BU has elected (by popular vote) to give its users the choice to follow either (and switch between them).
Of those, only ABC really has its code out there, ready to test publicly, while SV's repository has stayed in Beta with no changes published in the last 3 weeks.
SV repository description states "This release will undergo extensive testing and security audit before the release in October.". Would've been nice to hear from the CEO about status update.
Thanks for the comments. We are working to set up a Q&A with the SV developers. We'll give more info on that as we figure those details out.
First svpool block was mined earlier today.
