So your one law has no problem with: lying, burglary, pickpocketing, destruction of property or sex between consenting siblings, parent/child couples, live humans and corpses (animal or human)?
@PedanticPendant - lying is somewhat similar to masturbatiing, particukarly if you do so in public. Whether anyone takes offense or believes your utterings is entirely up to them.
@PedanticPendant - pickpocketing is Harm, of course. An unpermitted physical act upon your personal property is Harm against a physical appendage of your Being. Property is part of you.
@PedanticPendant - burglary is Harm against someone elese's property. Their property is an extension of their Being, comprised of the energy they devote to it and their dependence upon it.
@PedanticPendant - destruction of property is also Harm against someone else's property. Property is an extension of someone's Being, This is merely a repetitition of the Harm of burglary..
@PedanticPendant - sex between consenting siblings is not Harm if they have both agreed to it. There is no permission they violate in doing so, and such an act has no necessary victim.
@PedanticPendant - sex between a child and anyone is Harm if "child" is defined as someone not competent to consent. That depends entirely upon the definition of "child".
@PedanticPendant - sex between consenting live humans and corpses (animal or human)? Corpses are simply piles of inanimate matter - not sentient Beings capable of being Harmed.
Okay, just feeling out your position. Of course NAP produces the same results so I agree with all of them, just seemed like your definition of "harm" would fail to protect property.
One reason arguments against Marxists and such never resolve is because the arguments revolve around property instead of recognizing the very real Harm by coercion and violence.
The One Law judges actions by the absence or presence of permission. This means that The One Law actually cares about people, as opposed to systems focused upon material debates.
Something lost from modern understanding of the word property though is that the idea of self-ownership is where property starts. My body, time, and energy are my property which agrees with you
The One Law requires learning ( !not education or indoctrination). It achieves this by innately requiring Beings to learn how to not Harm others. To _not_learn is an intention to Harm others.
Mandatory attendance in Public schools is prison slavery.
Should groups of people that wish to establish a society where what the-one-law defines as harm is endorsed in their law be left to do so if the only option is to use force to stop them?
Yes. Coercion is wrong in the absence of harm.
That is an inadequate law since not all harm is equal. Also inadequate as some harm is necessary to life.
