USDJPY looks like a chart of gold shorter-term, massive base longer-term. Not dollar bullish, but reflects the yen likely headed for major depreciation.
Total credit market debt in the USA says gold could get to $4000-$8000 per ounce based on current level of credit. This is only the USA. An actual run on central banks will be global.
$2500 is a nice pop, a waypoint before $3000. Taking off = a run to $5000 in a few years, or to $10k or higher into the early 2030s.
The U.S. dollar became extremely useful as restrictions on capital declined. Adjusted for CPI the 1980 peak price in gold is about $2500 based on the February index level. If gold starts taking off, it'll be a sign people no lunch trust the central banks.
