First of all Calvin is just stating a possible fact, not an opinion. Second Dan is stating an opinion and he has a right to his opinion. I don't agree and think he is ill informed here but his opinion has no effect on me or his work as a developer.
If he is talking about coins that have not moved, we have to assume a few things. 1) He can prove someone else got a hold of the private keys AND they were removed from his network AND he did not have any backup. 2) He has a way to prove he owns the coins.
