Yeah something like that. I also think magic and science have a single point of origin. The reason science got split off from magic was because the church/state corrupted the previously unified entity of seeking to understand and apply knowledge.
Magic is: "When I do X, Y happens. So I do X".
Where science as it stands would begin with: "X is ridiculous and has been disproven so we can't discuss or engage in it. Let's produce a weak proxy of Y with some prescription drugs"

You can't change people who believe in magic with logic.
