I disagree. When times are uncertain, demand rises. This is completely reasonable.
The problem is "price gouging" laws which don't allow prices to rise to offset the spike in demand. And given the law of supply and demand, supply necessarily gets reduced.
To add to that, everyone complains about soulless corporations. Treating the hunt like a soulless numbers game just creates more of that energy in the job market.
