You know? The time after the fall of the roman empire? When everything went to shit for a handful of centuries and we lost a bunch of progress and civility?
Personally, in the US $200,000-$500,000 is a reasonable price for Mars. You would definitely have to sell your house. But your not going to need it where your going anyway ;)
Elon Musk explained it pretty well. We effectively have two circles of people, the people who can afford to go, and the people who want to go. The whole goal of SpaceX is to get those to overlap
The whole "capitalist" effort to enter the space sector is to create accessibility. It's not an Elite club for Jeff Bezos and the Bilderberg group or whatever.
If you had your way, there wouldn't be a SpaceX. There wouldn't ever be a DarkSpace Industries in the future, and i gotta be Frank with you (pun) there wouldn't be a NASA.
Blame the capitalists all you want Frank. It won't change a thing. There are actual capitalists out there working day and night so that we have the chance to start writing history again.
Listen to some of the audio logs of the missions. They spoke of peace, and the betterment of all mankind. The space program's purpose at the top couldn't have been further from the truth.
Space Exploration was crippled by a bureaucratic government looking to put out a fake front of advancing the future when all they wanted was to play war games.
The private space sector has only really begun with SpaceX. The government has been the one in charge of our direction in space exploration. Until now.
Someone was running a stress test using the same address as a memo account, so all those transactions had to be processed. Also, bloom filters were only added yesterday :)
I take it you would not be willing to share that Memo profile for the sake of curiosity?
Even if you could encapsulate an entire sun and blot out it's light, and even if an alien civ came to investigate, you STILL wouldn't get anything for hundreds-thousands of years.
